Irvin to Move Today

[Duluth, MN] The SS William A. Irvin is scheduled to move back to the Minnesota Slip today. The move is weather permitting.

The Blue Bridge was pinned upward this morning because of the Irvin move, and will be closed to pedestrians until sometime tomorrow.

The east side of Harbor Drive has been closed to the public during the move. The media, spectators and photographers are encouraged to view the move on the Canal Park side of the Minnesota Slip.

A press conference will be held at 3:00 p.m. today in front of the Blue Bridge on the Canal Park side. Speakers will provide more information on the move at that time.

A tentative timeline includes, again weather permitting:

2:00 p.m. – Crews will board the ship to prepare to move

4:00 p.m. – Approximate departure from Fraser Shipyards
