INCIDENT LOCATION: 4715 W. 5th St
At 8:10 PM, Duluth Fire units responded to the report of a house fire at 4715 W. 5th St.
Reporting party stated that she came back into the house after stepping out briefly, saw smoke and evacuated the building. Duluth Fire crews arriving found light smoke coming from the house. Investigation revealed a small fire in one of the upstairs bedrooms. The fire was quickly contained by fire crews.
Cause of the fire was determined to be a candle burning too close to combustible materials in an unattended room.
Damage to the building is set at $4,000 for contents and cleanup. There were no injuries. Crews from Spirit Valley, Lincoln Park and Headquarters responded to the incident.
The Duluth Fire Department would like to kindly remind residents to extinguish open flames when not attended.
