City of Duluth Prepares for Tonight’s Storm
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth is watching the storm headed towards the Twin Ports. Heavy snow and high winds are predicted by the National Weather Service to continue through the night into tomorrow afternoon. Wind gusts are expected to be between 35 - 45 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service has said that there is a potential risk of Lakeshore flooding in Duluth and Superior. City staff would like to remind the public not to drive through standing water, and keep a safe distance from the shoreline.
City of Duluth plows will be out overnight and into tomorrow plowing snow. Please maintain a safe distance behind plows, and use caution when driving.
Should this storm materialize, as with any storm, the City advises the use of caution when traveling. For those that are interested, there are live cams available that provide an interesting perspective, from a safe distance, of the weather in the harbor and the lakeshore area at: http://www.visitduluth.com/livecam/ .
The City of Duluth will provide updates as necessary.
