City of Duluth Prepares for Tomorrow’s Storm

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth is preparing for the second snow storm in a week to hit the Twin Ports. Heavy snow and high winds are predicted by the National Weather Service from Saturday through Sunday. Northeast winds are expected to gust as high as 45 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a Lakeshore flood warning for the Twin Ports. City staff would like to remind the public not to drive through standing water, and keep a safe distance from the shoreline. For those that are interested, there are live cams available that are available to see conditions in the harbor and the lakeshore area at: http://www.visitduluth.com/livecam/

City of Duluth plows are prepared for this next storm. We appreciate resident’s patience as plows will work to remove snow as quickly as possible.  As a reminder, plows will focus on keeping main roads clear first before moving into residential areas. If you chose to travel, please maintain a safe distance behind plows, and use caution when driving.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Duluth and the North Shore tomorrow afternoon through the evening. Visibility of a quarter of a mile or less is expected during the worst periods of the storm.  This storm has the potential to become a top-10 highest two-day snowfall in recorded history in Duluth.

The City of Duluth will provide updates throughout the storm.
