City Issues No Travel Advisory Starting at Noon, November 30, 2019
[Duluth, MN] Beginning at noon on November 30, the City of Duluth, in partnership with the National Weather Service, is issuing a no travel advisory until further notice. Duluth is under a blizzard warning from November 30 – December 1, with wind gusts expected to be over 40 miles per hour. Travel conditions will become dangerous, if not impossible. The public is asked to shelter in place throughout the storm, if possible. Fewer drivers on the road prevents accidents, injuries, and allows public safety officers to respond to emergencies, in addition to keeping plows moving.
City staff will continue to monitor Canal Park and other areas for potential flooding and will close roadways if need be.
Plows will be out and focusing on keeping main arterials open to traffic as a first priority. Residential streets are the second priority and will move into these areas within 48 hours of snowfall. Alleys are the final priority for plowing. Please be patient with plow drivers as this is expected to be a historic storm, plowing could take longer from the amount of snow projected to fall.
The City of Duluth will continue to provide updates throughout the storm.
