INCIDENT LOCATION: Lincoln Park
At 1254 today the Duluth Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the Lincoln Park neighborhood with a report of a person with a mobility issue still inside. A Duluth Police Officer arrived on-scene first and calmly and professionally assisted the resident to safety. Shortly after, 2 Engine from the Lincoln Park Station arrived and advanced a hose line to the second story to attack and extinguish the fire. They were assisted in ventilation and overhaul by fire companies from Headquarters, Spirit Valley and Duluth Heights. A total of 24 firefighters responded to the scene. There were no injuries. Mayo Clinic Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
The fire has been investigated by the Fire Marshal's office and has been determined to be accidental and electrical in nature. Damages are estimated to be $20,000. There will be more information regarding the cause of this fire, and a fire safety message from Deputy Fire Marshal Jon Otis on Tuesday 12/10.
