SUBJECT: Bentleyville Side by Side Theft Suspect Formally Charged

[DULUTH, MN] On 12/02/2019, a Polaris side by side was stolen from Bentleyville. On 12/04/2019 Duluth Police attempted to stop the stolen side by side near 18th Ave W and Superior Street and the vehicle fled from police. On 12/05/2019 a truck was stolen from Duluth Tire & Oil. Gibson-Bunnell was later stopped walking downtown matching the description of the suspect from Duluth Tire & Oil and eventually arrested after giving a false name, fleeing on foot and obstructing legal process. Investigators interviewed Gibson-Bunnell who confessed to both vehicle thefts as well as fleeing police in the side by side. During the interview, Gibson-Bunnell also confessed to burglarizing the Duluth Gospel Tabernacle Church on 11/16/2019.
On 12/18/2019 Duluth Police responded to a vehicle theft near 22nd Ave W/3rd Street. A short time later, Hermantown police located the stolen vehicle on Stebner Road and attempted to stop it as it slid into a ditch. The driver fled on foot and entered a nearby home where Hermantown Police arrested the driver identified as Gibson-Bunnell.
On 12/20/2019, Riley Terence Gibson-Bunnell was formally charged with two counts of Motor Vehicle theft, Possession/Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, two counts of Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle, two counts of Fleeing Police on Foot, Obstructing Legal Process, False Name to Police, Theft and Driving after Suspension.
Additionally on 12/09/2019, Gibson-Bunnell was formally charged with 2nd degree burglary and felony theft for the Burglary at Duluth Gospel Tabernacle Church.
