[Duluth, MN] -- All Duluth Public Library events are free and open to the public.

Monday, January 13 at all library locations
Winter Reading Program – Begins January 13 – February 29: Log reading time to earn prizes! Children and teens, you earn a free book when you complete ten hours of reading time. You can also earn tickets by reading and completing activities to put towards grand prize drawings. Adults, the more you read the more chances you have of winning gift cards to local bookstores! Sign up for the Winter Reading Program at duluthlibrary.org.

Monday, January 13 at West Duluth Branch Library – 5830 Grand Avenue
Stuffed Animal Sleepover Drop-Off - 10:00 am – 6:00 pm: 
Drop off your stuffed animal anytime on Monday, January 13, and pick them up during a special storytime on Wednesday, January 15. See what your stuffed animals got up to at the library!

Monday, January 13 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Book Bingo - 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: If you like bingo, you’ll love book bingo – instead of numbers we draw book titles! Play to win a gift card to Barnes & Noble. In the Gold Room. 

Monday, January 13 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Read to a Dog - 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Kids can read a story to a good listener with big ears and a wagging tail! These one-on-one read-aloud sessions with a licensed therapy dog are a great way to practice reading in a comfortable, fun environment.

Tuesday, January 14 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Baby Storytime - 10:15 am: Join us for a brief storytime ideal for babies 0-24 months, then stay for some early literacy playtime and socialization.

Wednesday, January 15 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Storytime with Chione - 10:15 am: Chione Woodwind Quintet hosts storytime at your library! Hear the story and learn the culture of Paka’a, a little boy living in Hawaii. Chione will engage children by intertwining musical learning, storytelling, and American Sign Language. This 45 minute program can be enjoyed by all ages, from babies to children at heart. In the Gold Room. 

Storytime Stay and Play - 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: Stay after storytime for large motor and imaginative play provided by Duluth Parks and Recreation. This event is for children birth through preschool. In the Green Room. 

Squad Car Storytime - 3:45 pm: Join us for stories read by one of Duluth's police officers. In Youth Services. 

Adulting 101: Personal Safety - 3:45 pm: Learn some tips to help keep yourself safe. Community Police Officer, Mike Jambor, will lead a conversation about minimizing the chance of having personal items stolen, when to call 911 and what to expect if you do, and more. This is a great opportunity to ask an expert any safety questions you may have. In the Green Room. 

Wednesday, January 15 at West Duluth Branch Library – 5830 Grand Avenue
Stuffed Animal Sleepover Storytime - 10:30 am: Pick up your stuffed animal during a special storytime. See what your stuffed animals got up to overnight at the library!

Teen Anime and Manga Club – 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Pizza (while it lasts!), Anime, cosplay, and games. For teens in grades 6-12.

DPL Book Group: Your Favorite Read of 2019 – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm: This month we're not all reading the same title! It's a reader's choice month. Bring your favorite read of 2019 and we'll discuss. New members welcome! In the Gold Room.

Friday, January 17 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Academy Award Friday Film - 2:00 pm: Check out four of this year’s Oscar-nominated films at our four-part Academy Award Friday Film series. Ballots will be available at each movie. Get the most correct and win a gift card to Marcus Theatres. Come early to our final film on February 7 for Movie Trivia and a chance to win a box of candy. Films shown for this event series will be chosen after the nominations are announced. Saturday, January 18 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Lake Superior Zoomobile: Creature Categories – 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm: The Lake Superior Zoo will bring in live animals to learn about and perhaps even touch! Furry or scaly, feathered or slimy—we can see and feel many similarities and differences between animals. Discover how scientists sort animals into groups based on how the look and behave. Registration required. In the Green Room.
