SUBJECT: Traffic Advisory: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March
BY: Tom Maida

NATURE OF INCIDENT: Traffic Advisory
CASE NO.:
INCIDENT DATE: 1/20/2020
INCIDENT TIME: 10:30 AM
INCIDENT LOCATION: Lake Ave & Superior St.

[DULUTH, MN] On Monday, November 20, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March will take place in Downtown Duluth.  Marchers will gather on 4th Street and Lake Ave., near the Washington Center, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  Officers will close the intersection at Lake Ave. and 4th Street during the gathering time.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., the March will proceed southbound on Lake Ave. to Superior Street.  The March will continue westbound on Superior St. from Lake Ave. to approximately 3rd Ave. W.  Marchers will enter the Skywalk system near Wells Fargo Bank and proceed to the DECC via the Northwest Passage.  The March will finish by approximately 11:45 a.m.

Traffic will not be allowed in the southbound lane of Lake Ave. between 3rd St. and Superior St. or in the driving lanes of Superior Street from Lake Ave. to 3rd Ave. W. when marchers are present.  Rolling street closures will continually change as the March progresses and should create only brief road closures.  All roads will re-open by 11:45 a.m.

Drivers are asked to be patient and use caution when driving in the area of the March, and to remain alert to increased pedestrian traffic and police officers directing traffic.
