[DULUTH, MN] On January 15, 2020, Investigators from the Duluth Police Department and the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force simultaneously executed search warrants at an apartment on the 700 block of E 2nd Street and on the person and vehicle of Duluth resident Matthew James Erickson (30).
The warrants resulted in the seizure of approximately 92 grams of fentanyl, $6039 U.S, currency and two loaded firearms.
Erickson has been formally charged for 1st Degree Sale of Fentanyl and Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle.
Fentanyl continues to be a direct source of overdoses within the region as it is 50 times more potent than morphine.
Due to the high volume of opioids intercepted in this case, we believe this will greatly affect those suffering from addiction. We encourage those looking for an alternative to substance use by contacting our Opioid Response Team Hotline. 218-730-4009. Help will be provided.
