[Duluth, MN] -- All Duluth Public Library events are free and open to the public.
Monday, January 27 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Recycle, Repurpose, and Restyle with Mary Mulari - 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Downsize your collections and "stuff” as you collect ideas for recycling household textiles and vintage linens, including Grandma’s doilies. Turn tablecloths, T-shirts, and thrift shop treasures into contemporary heirlooms and useful accessories. Learn Mary’s laundering/whitening tips and how, with basic sewing skills or fabric glue, to create special gifts with priceless memories attached. For young to mature adults or anyone interested in reusing household textiles.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Kombucha - 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm: Learn how to brew the best ‘buch on your block! From selecting ingredients to brewing, fermenting, and bottling, get all your Kombucha questions answered from local Market Day artisan, Lanae Rhodes. Find out why probiotics are good for you and sample a variety of Kombucha flavors. Go home with recipes and suppliers for all your brewing needs. Get brewing now! Samples available, while supplies last. No registration is required. In the Green Room.

Baby Storytime - 10:15 am: Join us for a brief storytime ideal for babies 0-24 months, then stay for some early literacy playtime and socialization.

Wednesday, January 29 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Baby and Toddler Storytime - 10:15 am: For children from birth to 36 months. 20 minutes of simple stories and fingerplays for infants and toddlers with parents. In the Gold Room.
Storytime Stay and Play – 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: Stay after storytime for large motor and imaginative play provided by Duluth Parks and Recreation. This event is for children birth through preschool. In the Green Room.
Preschool Storytime - 11:15 am: 30 minutes of stories, songs and fingerplays. In the Gold Room.

Save the Show! A Theatrical Escape Room - 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm: You, dear avid supporter of the arts, won a behind-the-scene ticket to the Royal Mount Theatre Company’s Annual Fundraiser Spectacular! However, when you arrived, no one greets you (strange). No one seems to be in the building at all (very weird). And apparently the entire cast and crew is dramatically trapped in the prop room (triple odd). Can you free the cast and crew before the audience arrives to an empty stage? Can you solve the zany antics of thespians? Can the show actually go on?

Marshmallow Madness - 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Food fight! We will create devices to throw, catapult, and launch these fluffy marshmallow delights across the library in lighthearted competitions. Or just eat this fluffy treat. Either way, come to enjoy some marshmallow madness! For teens in grades 6-12.

Academy Award Friday Film: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - 2:00 pm: Rated R; Drama/Comedy-drama; 2h 40m. Nominated for ten Oscars, including Best Picture. In the Green Room.

Saturday, February 1 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Kefir – 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: If you think kombucha is tasty, then you need to try kefir soda! With kefir you can make any flavor you want, such as root beer, cream soda or cherry, and all you taste is the flavor you add. It’s ready the next day and your second brew is ready within 4 days. Local Market Day artisan, Lanae Rhodes, will answer all your questions about how to brew this new, healthy beverage and samples of different kefir soda will be available while supplies last. No registration is required. In the Green Room.
Coding for Kids – 11:30 am – 1:30 pm: Does building mechanical computers or coding robots sound fun? Learn about the basics of computer programming WITHOUT screens through adventure and hands-on play. Learn with fun tools like Turing Tumbles, Cubettos, and Ozobots! In the Gold Room.
Lake Superior Writers: Critical – 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Lake Superior Writers hosts esteemed writers to discuss the feedback process, one-on-one and in groups, and how to sift through the feedback to strengthen your own writing. In the Green Room.
