CASE NO.:
INCIDENT DATE: 2/12/2020
INCIDENT TIME: 2:30 PM
INCIDENT LOCATION: Superior St Downtown Duluth
[DULUTH, MN] On Friday, February 14, the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women’s Memorial March will take place in Downtown Duluth. Starting at 2:30 p.m., marchers will gather on 2nd Ave. W., near the American Indian Community Housing Organization (AICHO) building at 202 W. 2nd St.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., the March will proceed southbound on 2nd Ave. W. to Superior Street. The March will continue eastbound on Superior St. from 2nd Ave. W. to 2nd Ave. E. Marchers will turn around at 2nd Ave. E. and walk to 1st Ave. E., where they will proceed northbound to the Building for Women at 32 E. 1st St.
Traffic will not be allowed in the southbound lane of 2nd Ave. W. between 2nd St. and Superior St. or in the eastbound driving lane of Superior Street from 2nd Ave. W. to 2nd Ave. E., when marchers are present. Rolling street closures will continually change as the March progresses and should create only brief road closures. Both lanes of the 100 block of E. Superior St. will briefly close while marchers are on it. All roads will re-open by approximately 3:30 p.m.
Drivers are asked to be patient and use caution when driving in the area of the March, and to remain alert to increased pedestrian traffic and police officers directing traffic.
