City of Duluth to Declare Emergency Proclamation
[Duluth, MN] Today, March 17, Mayor Emily Larson declared a local emergency to respond to the threat posed by COVID-19. The declaration allows the mayor and the City’s emergency manager to request, and coordinate appropriate aide and resources from surrounding jurisdictions and the State of Minnesota as needed. This also declares, under Open Meeting Law, specifically Minnesota Statutes 13D.021,that in-person meetings of the City Council and any other public meetings are not practical because of the COVID-19 health pandemic and emergency declared under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 12 by Governor Tim Walz.
“The safety of our staff, City Councilors, and the public is the number one priority,” states Mayor Emily Larson. “We know that things are troubling right now, and that people are feeling anxious and uncertain, but know that the City of Duluth will continue to provide you with the services you need. We are still working for you, and will continue to do so. Our community is strong, and resilient, and we will get through this.”
