BY: Kate Van Daele, Public Information Officer

Duluth CareerForce Center to Move to Virtual Services on Friday

[Duluth, MN] CareerForce in Duluth will transition to virtual service delivery beginning tomorrow March 27 at 8:00 a.m. CareerForce staff have been deemed essential by Governor Walz as a part of the Stay at Home Executive Order and will continue to provide support to those who need it by phone or online. All CareerForce locations will be closed to the public until April 10.

Even if our doors aren’t open, our staff is here to help! CareerForce offers a wide variety of virtual services including job search assistance, help with interviewing and resume writing, and connection to education and training programs. Please call 218-302-8400, and you will be connected to a team member. CareerForce staff are answering phones and checking messages Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Residents can also email careerforce.duluth@state.mn.us or workforcedevelopment@duluthmn.gov .

CareerForce virtual workshops are available here:

Virtual resume help is also available:
1. Follow the "resumes" link in your www.minnesotaworks.net account and fill in the resume template, then email a notification to rhonda.rutford@state.mn.us that your resume has been entered into Minnesotaworks. Please include your full name in subject line.
2. Email your resume as a Microsoft Word attachment to rhonda.rutford@state.mn.us with your full name in the subject line.

Workers who have been laid off may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance. If this applies to you, you can apply online or explore FAQs about UI eligibility at www.uimn.org or call 1-877-898-9090. We recommend going to the website first, as phone lines are overwhelmed with long wait times.

People who have been laid off and don’t expect to return to their previous job may be eligible for our Dislocated Worker program. Please contact Deb Holleman at dholleman@duluthmn.gov or 218-730-5233 to learn more.
