SUBJECT: New Virtual Service Added at Duluth Public Library
BY: Laura Selden
[DULUTH, MN] - Due to the extended closure of the library, starting Monday, March 30, 2020, the Duluth Public Library started offering a new virtual service. For those that don't have a library card, there is now an option to apply for an e-access library card. This e-access card will provide residents of the City of Duluth with temporary access to all of the digital resources the Duluth Public Library offers—e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and databases like Tumblebook Library, NewsBank, and Ancestry.
To receive an E-access Library Card, those applying must live within the city limits of Duluth. For those that live outside of the city limits, the Arrowhead Library System is offering a similar library card to residents of their seven-county area.
This E-access card will allow Duluthians to stay home and stay safe. It will allow access to over 25,000 ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines without leaving home. E-access Library Cards will expire on June 1, 2020. Once the Duluth Public Library reopens physical locations, patrons will be encouraged to convert E-access Library Cards to a permanent library card.
