Portions of Decker Road to Close for Construction Beginning Monday, April 13

[Duluth, MN]  Portions of Decker Road will close on Monday, April 13, to replace utility systems and rehabilitate pavement. A 1,000-foot section of Decker Road will be closed to all traffic near the Miller Hill Mall, including the intersection of Mall Drive. Motorists and pedestrians will not be able to use Decker Road north of Anderson Road for through traffic. A signed detour will reroute traffic using Anderson, Haines, and Maple Grove roads until the end of summer.  

The City of Duluth’s contractor will start removing the roadway pavement next week to begin the replacement of sanitary and storm sewer systems during the following weeks.  Before restoring the road, corroded water and gas mains will also be replaced with new plastic pipes. This area of Decker Road and Mall Drive is projected to re-open in late June when construction activities will pivot to the next ¾ mile-long segment of Decker Road to the south. Utility replacements and roadway restoration will continue southerly this construction season with two more phases of work, ultimately stopping this fall at Piedmont Avenue.
