INCIDENT LOCATION: 317 N 60th Ave West

At 8:17 pm the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a garage fire at 317 N 60th Ave West. 8 Quint from the Spirit Valley station was first on the scene and reported the detached garage behind the address was fully involved. The fire crew quickly knocked the fire down with attack lines and were joined by firefighters from Lincoln Park, Gary and Headquarters stations to complete extinguishment and overhaul. Efforts were complicated by a damaged power line that had been exposed to the fire. Minnesota Power quickly responded to make the power line safe. The Duluth Police Department also assisted at the scene.

There was no one inside the garage or house and there were no firefighter injuries. The fire department was on scene for 2 hours and the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office. Questions can be directed to the Fire Marshal at 218-730-4398. Damages are estimated at $20,000 for the structure and $5,000 for the contents.
