Park Point Sanitary Sewer Lining to Begin Next Week
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth and a contractor will begin installing the cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) liner in the sanitary sewer main on Park Point beginning Monday, April 20. Crews will begin mobilizing the site on April 20, with work starting on April 21.
Schedule for the sewer project is as follows:
- April 21 work will take place on the 2200 and 2700 blocks of Minnesota Avenue
- April 22 work will take place on the 2600 and 2800 blocks of Minnesota Avenue
- April 23 work will take place on the 1300 and 2400 blocks of Minnesota Avenue
Work is expected to take three to four weeks to complete the lining of the sanitary sewer system.
“While this is a difficult time for all of us, the City of Duluth’s Public Works and Utilities department is committed to providing drinking water, sewer, and natural gas services for all residents,” said Tom Pfeffer, City of Duluth senior engineer said. “To that end, we continue to identify sewer repairs that cannot wait. With Lake Superior being at its seasonal low elevation, completing the work now ensures the best chance of success for the remaining project work.”
The City and its contractor will be enacting its infectious disease control policies while they work. Crew members will follow social distancing practices and do not anticipate going into homes during the work.
Homeowners can expect some inconveniences during this work that include traffic restrictions. Residents in the affected areas have been notified by the City and have been informed of the project timelines and potential inconveniences.
