City Plans for Phased Approach to Reopen City Facilities

[Duluth, MN] In accordance with Governor Walz’s 20-40 Executive Order, the City of Duluth has created a COVID Preparedness Plan. The plan lays out policies and practices that meet the requirements of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Minnesota Department of Health, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.

Beginning next week, the City of Duluth will start to allow minimal numbers of City staff to return to City facilities to perform work if approved by their department. The City will then continue a phased approach for having staff return to the building to ensure safety for staff and the public. To date, no timeline has been established for the next phases.

City facilities will continue to be closed to the public through at least June 1. When prepared to protect staff and the public to the extent possible, the City will begin with a partial opening that will allow members of the public to enter select City facilities on an appointment-only basis. There is no set timeline for the phases of facilities re-opening to be implemented.

The City’s priority is to ensure the safety of staff and the public while in City facilities. As plans move forward, the City will continue to update the public of requirements for visitors entering City buildings, as well as changes to facility access.
