Roadwork to begin at the Intersection of Garfield Avenue and West Superior Street

[Duluth, MN] Beginning on Thursday, June 11, roadwork will start at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and West Superior Street. During this time, outside lanes of traffic will be closed so that a contractor can perform signal, gas, and pavement work. The majority of the work is expected to be complete by mid-July.

Signal work is being done to prepare for large wind blades and towers that will be transported through the intersection later this summer. The improvements are also to prepare for the Temporary Cross City Trail Relocation work next summer.

During construction, the signal system will set to either all-way red flash, or 4-way stop signs will be installed. Drivers should pay attention to the changing traffic control conditions and use caution when traversing the intersection. Trucks are encouraged to take alternate routes due to the tight turning radius.
