NATURE OF INCIDENT: Water Emergency
CASE NO.:
INCIDENT DATE: 7/13/2020
INCIDENT TIME: 2:30 PM
INCIDENT LOCATION: 4300 London Rd

This afternoon, the Duluth Fire Department responded for the report of a floating toy out in Lake Superior in the location of 40th Ave. East. The reporting party thought that they had seen a person on the floating toy. Duluth Fire Department launched Marine 1, our jet-ski and Marine 19, our Fireboat to the last known location. The floating toy was quickly found in the location of 34th Ave. East with no person aboard.

A coordinated search by the Duluth Fire Department, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Duluth Police and the US Coast Guard did not find a person in the water. Numerous persons on shore were contacted to see if they were missing anyone or any floating toy but nothing was missing. The search was called off roughly 90 minutes after beginning.

All agencies involved agreed that the flotation toy was most likely not manned due to the wind direction and the location of the toy when found.
