Duluth City Council to hold remainder of 2020 meetings virtually
[Duluth, MN] The Duluth City Council announced on Friday, August 14, that the remaining City Council meetings in 2020 would be held virtually.
“This decision was made with all of my Council colleagues,” Council President Gary Anderson said. “As leaders, the Council wants to set a good example for our community. To continue to hold our meetings virtually, we feel is a responsible way to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
Anderson went on to say, “We have had great participation from constituents who have chosen to tune in on WebEx, in addition to all of the public comments that we have received by email. It has been great to see the participation of the community not falter during such uncertain times.”
The City Council returns from a planned summer break for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, August 17, at 7:00 p.m. Council meetings are held by telephone or other electronic means pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 13D.021 in response to the COVID-19 emergency.
Due to the COVID-19 emergency and the closure of city facilities, public comment will not be taken at the meeting. However, members of the public can monitor the meeting and provide public comment on agenda items through WebEx Events. To access the meeting, please visit: https://duluthmn.gov/live-meeting. Public comments can also be submitted to Councilors prior to the meeting by sending an email to council@duluthmn.gov. Please include “Council Agenda” in the subject line, your name and address and the agenda item you are speaking to. Please note that all public comment is considered public data.
The public can watch the Council meetings by tuning into Public Access Television on channel 180.
