CASE NO.: 20-00009055
INCIDENT DATE: 8/26/2020
INCIDENT TIME: 5:32 PM
INCIDENT LOCATION: 5000 Leisure St

Earlier this evening the Duluth Fire Department responded to the report of two boats in distress located on the St. Louis River adjacent to the Arrowhead Boat Ramp/Billings Park area. Caller stated that one boat was attempting to tow the other, and one of the boats was taking on water. The caller hung up and was not able to be reached on callback.

Duluth Fire dispatched Marine 19, Marine 1 to locate the vessels and had Marine 10 on standby to assist if needed. St. Louis County Sheriff's Office Volunteer Rescue Squad and the US Coast Guard also responded to the incident.

The boaters were located by the US Coast Guard, who said they would be towing in both vessels and that there were no injuries. Marine 19 was able to confirm that medical was not needed and all units and agencies responding to this incident were placed in service. Damage to the watercraft or contact with the reporting parties initiating the response was not determined by Duluth Fire. Any inquiries relating to this incident should be directed to the US Coast Guard Station Duluth.
