Duluth Warming Center to be open during cold temperatures this week
[Duluth, MN] With temperatures expected to be at or below 32 degrees this week, CHUM and Loaves and Fishes has announced that the Duluth Warming Center will be open every night this week, beginning tonight (November 30). The Warming Center is a safe and welcoming nighttime warming space where people experiencing homelessness and other people in need can stay warm on nights when the temperature is expected to drop to 32 degrees or lower.
The Center is located in the Duluth Housing and Redevelopment Authority’s Rainbow Center located at 211 North 3rd Avenue East. The Warming Center will be open to guests from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Guests are required to wear face coverings while utilizing the Center. Thanks to the generosity of the Duluth Transit Authority, the DTA is providing free rides to and from the Center when it is open.
In addition to the Warming Center being open this week, CHUM’s Drop-In Center is available for those who need shelter from the cold.
The Warming Center is a partnership between CHUM, St. Louis County, the City of Duluth, Duluth HRA, and Loaves & Fishes. Due to COVID-19 safety concerns, the Warming Center is not accepting donations or volunteers at this time.
