INCIDENT LOCATION: 1000 Block of 89th Avenue West
On Sunday, July 11th, 2010, at approximately 7:15 p.m. Duluth Police responded to a reported attempted Sexual Assault on the railroad tracks along the St. Louis River, below 86th Avenue West between Concord and Falcon Streets.
The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’9”, medium build, short thinning light brown hair, clean shaven, and glasses. He was wearing a white T-shirt with black printing on the front and blue jean shorts, and was traveling on a bicycle.
Police asked for the public’s help in obtaining any possible suspect information and the response was overwhelming. A combination of the public’s assistance, along with diligent follow through by patrol officers and investigators resulted with an arrest earlier today.
At 12:54 a.m. this morning, Duluth Police officers arrested Levi Derek Haase, age 29 of Duluth, in connection with the attempted sexual assault. Haase has been lodged at the St. Louis County Jail pending charges of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and Attempted First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct. Haase is expected to make his first appearance in court tomorrow.
