City and Partners to announce 2021 Beach Nourishment Plans for Park Point

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will host a public meeting today at 11:30 a.m. to provide information on the 2021 maintenance dredging project on Park Point. The USACE will provide a summary of contract requirements that have been implemented to mitigate the risks of placing man-made debris on Park Point during dredging and placement operations.

The City of Duluth and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, will discuss roles of the partners involved in the project, and permissions sought for the project to begin.

Speakers for the public meeting include:

-        Jim Filby Williams, City of Duluth, Director of Parks, Properties, & Libraries

-        Melissa Bosman, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project Manager

-        Dr. Kevin Meyer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

-        Anna Holz, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency

-        Dr. Gary Glass, EPA Water Lab researcher 1968 - 2002
