Police seeking information on Motorcycle Crash

The Duluth Police Department is investigating an early morning single vehicle motorcycle crash.  The motorcycle, a red Honda, and its lone male rider were found down on the roadway at 3:19 a.m. by a St. Louis County Sheriff’s Deputy near the intersection of Rice Lake Road and Baylis Street.  The driver, 41 year old Thomas J. Rodne of Duluth, was unresponsive and taken by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he is critical, but stable condition. Rodne was not wearing a helmet.

Investigation into the crash has revealed that Rodne was northbound on Rice Lake Road when he failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and hit the right side curb.  He lost control of the motorcycle, went down, and struck a mailbox before coming to rest.  It is believed the crash happened just moments before being found by the deputy.

Anyone with information on the crash or Rodne’s whereabouts or activities prior to the crash is asked to call Investigator Tom Stolee at (218) 730-5475. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
