INCIDENT LOCATION: 100 Block of East 3rd Street

Duluth Police ask for the publics help in recent shooting

[Duluth, MN] The Duluth Police Department is asking for the publics' help in collecting more information about what led to a shooting incident late last night. At approximately 9:15 p.m., the Duluth Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on the 100 block of East 3rd Street. One person was struck by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim is William David Urrutia, age 41, of Duluth. Urrutia was last known to be in stable condition.

According to investigators, Urrutia and the suspect are known to one another and were involved in a verbal altercation before the shooting. The suspect is still at large.

The Duluth Police Department does not have information indicating that this incident and the May 22 homicide are connected.

Duluth Police are asking for the public’s help in providing information in regards to this incident. Any information that the caller requests to be confidential can be taken as such. To provide information, please call the Violent Crimes Unit at 218-730-5050.

“To solve this crime, we need help from the public,” Deputy Chief Steve Stracek said. “No amount of information is too small to not call. There is no need for senseless violence like this in our community. Please help us to bring justice in this case.”
