Friday, July 2, 2021 Update:
The Duluth Police Department is releasing the name of the suspect that stabbed 37-year-old Donald Fitzsimmons, Thursday, July 1, 2021, in the 100 block of W Gary Street. Daniel Richard Wheless, a 22-year-old male has been arrested on 2nd degree assault charges. The condition of Fitzsimmons is unknown. No further information will be released at this time as it’s still an active and ongoing investigation.
At 4:32 p.m., Duluth Police Officers arrested a suspect in connection to Thursday, July 1, 2021 stabbing that happened on W Gary Street. The investigation is currently ongoing. No further information will be released.
At 2:18 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2021, Duluth Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of W Gary Street on a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found a male with substantial stab wounds to his abdomen. He was immediately transported to a hospital for his wounds. The victim's condition is unknown at this time. The Duluth Police Department is looking for a person of interest in this incident who is known to the injured individual.
