JULY 21, 2021 UPDATE:
50-year-old Matthew Maki has been identified as the deceased male that was found in Leif Erickson Park Tuesday, July 20, 2021. There is no further information to provide.
ORIGINAL RELEASE:
At 9:57 a.m., July 20, 2021, Duluth Police Officers responded to the Lakewalk in Leif Erickson Park on a report of a deceased individual that was found by a North Shore Scenic Railroad employee. The deceased individual was identified as a 50-year-old male. The name of the male won’t be released until next of kin is notified.
Upon further investigation and preliminary review, Duluth Police Investigators believe there was no foul play. The Major Crimes Unit is doing follow up regarding this incident.
