Earlier this evening the Duluth Fire Department responded for the report of a fire in the kitchen. Units arrived to find a kitchen on fire. It was reported upon arrival that all persons were out of the house but there was a cat still inside.
Crews knocked down the fire, searched the house and vented out the heat and smoke.
A cat was found in the basement and was brought to safety. There were no injuries to report. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are set at $25,000. Any inquires should be directed to the Duluth Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office.
Fire crews from Gary, Spirit Valley, Lincoln Park and Downtown responded to the call. Duluth Police were also on scene to render assistance.
