NATURE OF INCIDENT: Protest
CASE NO.: 21116088
INCIDENT DATE: 8/19/2021
INCIDENT TIME: 12:38 p.m.
INCIDENT LOCATION: Aerial Lift Bridge
At around 12:38 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2021, Duluth Police Officers responded to the Aerial Lift Bridge on the report of Line 3 protesters blocking the traffic lanes on the lift bridge and the walkways. The protesters were on the bridge for about 30 minutes, preventing access for vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow on and off of Park Point along with watercraft passage through the shipping channel.
After multiple requests, and a lawful dispersal order, the protesters left the bridge. The protestors left the area around 1:45 p.m. and continued their march. No arrests were made and there were no injuries to officers or protesters.
Thank you to the Hermantown Police Department for assisting us during this incident along with the lift bridge operator for cooperating fully.
