Lakewood Water Plant testing new product
The City of Duluth Lakewood water plant has switched to a non-toxic liquid food grade polymer that removes particles from the water. The City had previously used a powder formula which was more costly and required more preparation.
In the last few months following this change to the City’s drinking water system, some residents may have detected a mild odor. In response to recent concerns, the City's Water Chemist tested samples from various locations throughout the city to determine the cause of the odor. During the City’s recent tests, it was confirmed that no contaminants were present in the water. The City is having an independent lab test the water at this time to confirm our findings. The City will continue to work to remediate the odor. We are committed to maintaining the highest quality drinking water all residents expect.
If anyone has questions, please call the Lakewood Water Treatment Plant and ask for a Water Chemist during normal business hours. Their direct phone number is 218-525-0834.
