“Keep Duluth Clean” Plans Fall City-Wide Clean-up Event for September 25th

[Duluth, MN] Keep Duluth Clean (KDC) is a Duluth, Minnesota - volunteer based group organizing clean-ups and raising awareness on litter, dumping, and other environmental issues within the city. KDC organizers are coordinating their semi-annual, all-day, city-wide clean up event on Saturday, September 25th, with the mission to inspire residents to take part to rid the city of trash before going into the winter months.

Event Details:

Date: Saturday, September 25th, 2021

Time: All day

Where: Clean up where you live, work or play! Volunteers are encouraged to clean up in front of their homes, at a nearby park, trail or stream, or at other locations where individuals see value in cleaning up.

Why: We believe we are a community that recognizes and values a clean city and environment.

Volunteers who submit a litter report form, will be eligible for random drawings of giveaways from local Duluth establishments.

“Duluth is a gorgeous city and our residents want it to stay that way, but it requires continuous work by us all.” Julia Wisehart, Leadership Committee of KDC said. “We are excited to provide an organized clean-up in the spring and fall to encourage residents, students and business to take part in beautifying their city”!

Keep Duluth Clean was founded in 2020 by members of Clean Yer Creek, Involta, The Flint Group, Loll Designs, and the City of Duluth who had organized localized clean-ups with the vision for a larger organization of volunteers to participate in city-wide clean-ups. This spring, Keep Duluth Clean organized over 700 volunteers who removed over 7 tons of waste from public spaces in Duluth.

COVID SAFE: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this event will be decentralized and primarily self-directed so participants can practice social distancing and target clean-up efforts where they see fit. Volunteers are encouraged to follow recommended safety guidelines by the CDC for outdoor activities here, wear a mask when necessary, and use gloves when picking up garbage.
