Duluth Goat Hill home loses garage and car in structure fire

[Duluth, MN] Just before 8:20 p.m. this evening, the Duluth Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire on the 2200 block of West 10th Street. When crews arrived, they found a 24 x 28 foot one-stall detached garage that was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews located hydrants and began the fire attack. The fire extended into the cock loft. After the fire was extinguished, crews continued to put out hot spots within that space for some time.

No one was in the garage at the time of the fire. There were no injuries sustained by firefighters or the public during the incident. The Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. This is an active investigation. No additional information can be provided at this time.

The garage was deemed a total loss. There was a car that was in the garage at the time of the fire which crews were unable to remove due to the fire being so widespread. Damage to the garage and its contents is estimated at $50,000.

Crews from Duluth Heights, Headquarters, Lincoln Park and Spirit Valley responded to the scene. The Duluth Police Department provided traffic control, in additional to managing crowd control.
