Mayor Emily Larson to make broadband announcement

[Duluth, MN] Mayor Emily Larson will announce the release of a broadband community survey at a press conference tomorrow, October 8 at 10:30 a.m. In the Mayor's State of the City speech earlier this year, she drew attention to the critical broadband needs facing Duluth, as well as the stark disparities that currently exist around equitable access for all residents to fast, reliable, and affordable internet. She called for the need for competition in the market and committed to allocating $1 million in American Rescue Plan funds to incentivize new service providers.

To understand the community's needs, Mayor Larson and City staff will be providing an update on the City’s work to improve community access to broadband, unveiling the broadband community survey, and will be asking Duluth residents to take the survey, which will provide needed information to determine next steps.
