Accident sends 83 year old Duluth Man to Hospital with Life Threatening Injuries

The Duluth Police Department is investigating a Motor Vehicle-Pedestrian Personal Injury Accident that sent a 83 year old Duluth man to a Duluth hospital with life threatening injuries.  The accident occurred at West Central Entrance and Trinity Road and was reported at 2:09 a.m. this morning.  

The pedestrian, Harold Edward Nelson, age 83 of Duluth, was walking northbound and crossing West Central Entrance at Trinity Road when he was struck by a blue 1998 Buick Park Avenue 4 door that was eastbound on West Central Entrance.   The Buick was driven by Elizabeth Maria Rodriguez, age 21, of Deer River, Minnesota.   Rodriguez was issued a citation for no insurance.

Nelson was transported to St. Mary's Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance where he is in the Intensive Care Unit with life threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Duluth Police Traffic Investigation Office.  Police are asking that anyone with information about the accident, whether they witnessed it or not, to call the Duluth Police Traffic Office at 218-730-5030.
