Human Rights Commission to host community education session tomorrow, November 17, in collaboration with TPAC

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth Human Rights Commission, in conjunction with the Twin Ports APIDA Collective (TPAC), will hold a public Community Educational Session tomorrow, November 17, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The session will include TPAC members who will share what it means to be Asian in these current times, confronting Asian hate crimes, mental health impacts of hate, and the adverse effects of silence and invisibility.

“We hope the public will join us to hear firsthand the experiences that some of our community have endured,” Human Rights Commission Vice Chair Marsha Lue said. "This is also an opportunity for the public to learn how we can be an ally to APIDA community members, be alert, and be responsive to acts of hate."

The Twin Ports APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) Collective’s mission is “to build solidarity among us, awareness in the community around us, and equity for all of us.”

The Human Rights Commission plans to host multiple educational sessions to uplift diversity within our community. These sessions will provide an opportunity for discussion and dialogue of lived experiences in Duluth.
