Duluth Police Officers Arrest Individual on Multiple Pending Charges
At around 5:15 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, Duluth Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of E 3rd Street for a report of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. Officers located the vehicle stopped, facing the wrong direction with the driver of the vehicle slumped over at the wheel. Officers found that the vehicle was occupied by a male driver, later identified as 38-year-old Duluth resident Larry Samson.
Officers made contact with Samson and noticed a strong alcoholic odor and other signs of impairment. After officers removed Samson from his vehicle and took him into custody, they noticed he was wearing an empty handgun holster. During a search of Samson’s vehicle, a handgun was located and was found to be reported stolen from a home that was burglarized in March of 2021.
Samson was transported to a local hospital as part of the DWI arrest process and later booked in the St. Louis County Jail on pending charges of 4th degree DWI, obstructing legal process with force, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen handgun, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, wrong-way driving, driver in possession of an open container, and driving after revocation.
