INCIDENT LOCATION: 100 block of N 54th Ave E

Individual Arrested on Pending 1st Degree Manslaughter Charges 

At approximately 12:50 a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022, Duluth Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of N 54th Ave E for a medical/assault call. Dispatchers advised responding officers that a male was punched in the head and was unconscious. Upon arrival, officers locate an unconscious male laying on the floor who was later pronounced dead on scene. The deceased individual's name will not be released until next of kin is notified.

After further investigation, officers learn that 46-year-old Anthony Laspina got in a physical altercation with a 42-year-old male after they were arguing. The male individual became unconscious as the result of being assaulted. Laspina was transported to a local hospital for an injury sustained during the incident and was later transported to the Public Safety Building to be interviewed where he caused damage to the interview room. Laspina was transported to the St. Louis County Jail for pending 1st Degree Manslaughter charges.
