Duluth operations crews at work for 13+ hours to restore water service in Morgan Park
[Duluth, MN] Duluth operations crews have been on the scene trying to restore water service in the Morgan Park area for thirteen hours. Crews responded to the area near 91st Avenue West before 8:30 a.m. on February 1, 2022. Throughout the day, seven water main breaks would occur in the area affecting approximately fifty households.
Just before 7:00 p.m., five crews were able to fix a pressure reducer issue that had caused the breaks. Service has been restored to affected portions of Idaho and Falcon Streets between 91st and 93rd Avenue West.
Crews are still working to repair the remaining segments affected by breaks this morning. Water is still off on Grace Street between 90th and 93rd Avenue West. Crews are hoping to restore water service before midnight tonight.
The City would like to thank affected residents for their understanding and patience.
Temperatures hovered in the teens this morning and are now in the single digits. The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory in Duluth from 9:00 p.m. until noon tomorrow, February 2, 2022.
“Thanks to our staff who remained committed to restoring water service through 13 hours of work in very cold conditions,” Chief Administrative Officer Noah Schuchman said. “We are grateful for their dedication and for their service.”
