Temporary closure scheduled for west bound traffic on London Road (between 12th and 13th Ave East)

 

The City of Duluth will be closing the westbound lane of London Road stretching from 13th Ave East to 150 feet west of the 12th Ave East intersection on August 23 and 24, 2010.  Twelfth Ave East will be open, but restricted to left turns only at London Road.  Thirteenth Ave East will remain open.    

 

The closing is necessary to remove a concrete island in preparation for the conversion of 12th and 14th Ave East from one way to two way routes (between London Road and Fourth Street East).
 
This conversion will alleviate circuitous travel for both the residents and businesses in the neighborhood.  The conversion was presented at a public meeting in May 2010 and approved by the City Council at their June 14, 2010 meeting.  The full conversion work is planned for early September.  Additional information on the project will be released at a later date.
