Duluth Fire stations reopen to the public effective immediately
[Duluth, MN] The Duluth Fire Department, effective immediately, has reopened to the public thanks to a low risk of COVID-19 locally. The Duluth Fire Department has been closed to the public since the pandemic started with a two-day reopening from August 1-3 in 2021, only to close due to a spike in COVID-19.
The Department is also relaunching its Car Seat Safety Clinics. Duluth Fire is now taking appointments for its 2022 Car Seat Safety Clinics. The first clinic will take place on April 21 at Station 7 (1419 Maple Grove Road) from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Child Safety Seat Clinics are for parents and caregivers to have their child safety seat inspected by a certified child passenger technician. The child passenger safety technician will inspect and assist parents and caregivers in installing their child safety seat. The clinics are a free service. You must sign up for a designated time slot. Masks are required at all clinics. For time availability and signup, please visit www.duluthmn.gov/fire/community-programs/car-seat-program.
“It’s exciting to reopen to the public,” Deputy Chief Jon Otis said. “We have missed connecting with our neighbors and having the public come into our stations. We are really looking forward to having children and classrooms learn about our work and safety tips in person. That human connection is really important in a job like ours. We can’t wait to welcome people back.”
