Update on Alleged School Threat

After conducting a thorough investigation, Duluth Police determined that the alleged school threat made by a Lincoln Park Middle School student was a written list of names from several months ago. Due to the recent tragic Texas School Shooting, students having knowledge of this list brought their concerns forward to staff. This list was not known to police nor school administration until Thursday evening, May 26. After conducting interviews and speaking to the student on Thursday, and again on Friday, it is believed the written list of names are individuals the student expressed both being upset with and bullied by.

School Resource Officers, Duluth Police Investigators, and Duluth Police Officers work in collaboration with ISD-709 to ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff. Any and all threats to student safety is taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.

This incident remains an open and active investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
