East First Street reconstruction project to begin Monday, June 6, 2022

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth will begin the East First Street and alley reconstruction project on Monday, June 6, 2022. The project consists of replacing the retaining wall along the south side of East 1st Street, replacing and up-sizing the water main, replacing the sidewalk, replacing the curb and gutter, and providing a new driving surface.

The project area will extend the current East First Street closure from about Sixth Avenue East to Seventh Avenue East. This area may expand slightly depending on the work being done. The area inside of this closure will also be signed for no parking. Work is anticipated to last throughout the summer and complete this fall.
