Duluth Police Investigate Accidental Discharge of a Firearm at Bar Close
At approximately 2:02 a.m., Saturday, June 18, while on foot patrol during bar close, Duluth Police Officers noticed multiple people running from Aces on First (113 W 1st St) stating that multiple people are shot in the bar. Responding officers notify dispatch and request more squads on scene.
Upon arrival, Officers get inside the bar and find one male victim with a gunshot wound to their foot. After conducting multiple interviews and watching surveillance video, it was known that a fight ensued between two white males and two black males. During the fight, a gun fell out of the waistband of one of the white males who was involved in the fight. A bystander attempted to pick up the gun when it accidentally discharged, hitting the male victim in the foot. People in the bar fled the scene and the gun was unable to be located.
Officers identify and locate two of the individuals involved in the fight at another bar a few blocks away. These individuals were detained and interviewed for their involvement in the fight. They were interviewed and released.
Two others who were also involved in the fight have not been located. DPD doesn’t believe there is a threat to the public as this was an accidental discharge of a firearm. We will continue to investigate this incident and encourage the public to call 911 and reference ICR #22083921 if they have any information regarding this incident.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
