Individual Arrested on Multiple Pending Assault Charges

At approximately 6:39 p.m., Monday, July 4, Duluth Police responded to the DECC Ramp for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers located a 65-year-old female who reported being assaulted by a male, later identified as 37-year-old Michael Hanson. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. While attempting to locate Hanson from the description given by the victim, an officer located Hanson at the DTC, who advanced on the officer. A struggle ensued and the officer eventually was able to detain Hanson. Hanson was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation and then to the St. Louis County Jail for multiple pending assault charges.
