Car vs. Pedestrian Accident

At approximately 11:15 p.m., Sunday, July 10, Duluth Police Officers were dispatched to Glenwood Street approaching Old Howard Mill Road for a report of a car vs. pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a 16-year-old juvenile male who stated that he was driving eastbound on Glenwood Street when he hit what he thought was a deer. The juvenile pulled over and learned he had struck a pedestrian. Lifesaving measures were attempted on scene. The pedestrian identified as 39-year-old Duluth resident Jessica Jimenez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon initial investigation, there was no suspected impairment or distraction by the juvenile male. This incident is still under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.

Our thoughts go out to Jimenez’s loved ones as they grieve her loss.
