Mayor Emily Larson Announces New Public Information Officer
[Duluth, MN] Mayor Emily Larson announced today the hiring of a new Public Information Officer, Kelli Latuska.
The Public Information Officer plays a critical role in providing information to the public and the media.
“The City of Duluth is excited to have Kelli serve in this role. She has a clear passion for our city, the community, and for the work that we do here,” said Mayor Larson. “Her experience in the arts, media, and in organizational leadership will fit perfectly in telling the stories of the city, our staff, and our residents.”
“I am so honored and enthusiastic about serving in this role with the City of Duluth,” said Latuska. “I’m excited about the work that goes on behind the scenes at the City, and I’m looking forward to telling stories that shine a light on that work and the public servants who do it. I’m passionate about raising the accessibility of local government and am so happy to be able to help do that for fellow Duluthians in this role.”
A native-born Minnesotan, Latuska has lived in the Twin Ports for over 30 years. She received a BFA in Communicating Arts and Design from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She spent over a decade working in local television as both Station Manager of KDLH and Director of Programming for KBJR, and worked in non-profit management for eight years. She is a proponent of the arts, having directed and designed theatrical productions, served on the board of Renegade Theater, and produced arts-related television shows. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Homegrown Music Festival. Latuska lives in West Duluth with her husband and enjoys drawing, painting, reading, cooking, and hiking.
In accepting the Public Information Officer position, Latuska replaces Kate Van Daele, who served in this role since 2019.
