INCIDENT LOCATION: W 5th St and Hwy 23

Thursday Update to Wednesday's Hit and Run

The Duluth Police Department has identified the driver involved in the hit and run Wednesday, July 27 as a 77-year-old female Duluth resident. This incident remains under investigation and will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office for a formal charging decision.

The victim involved in this incident is identified as 66-year-old Duluth resident Nancy Waters. She continues to be hospitalized and is in stable condition. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Waters and her loved ones.

Wednesday Night Update:

The vehicle has been located and the driver of the vehicle has been identified. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The 66-year-old female remains in critical condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with her, her family, and her friends. No further information will be released at this time.

We appreciate the communities assistance and concern involving this tragic incident. 

 

DPD is Seeking the Public's Assistance in Locating a Vehicle Involved in a Hit and Run 

The Duluth Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a red or maroon 2017 Kia Sportage in regards to a hit and run that occurred at around 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, July 27. Officers were dispatched to the area of W 5th St and Highway 23 for a report of a 66-year-old female that was hit by a vehicle and was being tended to by passerby’s. She was transported to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries related to the accident. This is an active and ongoing investigation and we are encouraging those with any information on the whereabouts of the Kia to call our Traffic Division at (218)-730-5637.
